Privacy Policy

1. What this app is

Sensei is an adaptive learning app for software developers. It uses the Anthropic Claude API to carry out Socratic teaching sessions and to grade quizzes.

2. Data we collect

• Account data: display name, email address, a hashed password (we never store the plaintext).
• Learning content you create: messages you send during a session, your quiz answers, and the topics and rubrics extracted from PDFs you upload to create custom tracks. The original PDF file itself is processed transiently and is not retained after extraction.
• Progress data: which topics you've studied, the grades Claude has awarded, your streak counts, and your preferences (language, voice mode).
• Authentication tokens: session cookies (web) and refresh tokens (mobile) used to keep you signed in.
• Payment identifiers: if you upgrade to Pro, we store your Stripe customer ID. We never receive or store your card details — those go directly to Stripe.

3. Third parties we share data with

• Anthropic (Claude API): when you chat with the app, the text of your messages and the relevant conversation history are sent to Anthropic so Claude can respond. Anthropic's handling of this data is governed by their privacy policy.
• Stripe: used to process Pro subscription payments. Card details are collected by Stripe directly and never touch our servers. See Stripe's privacy policy.
• Railway: our hosting provider. App data is stored in a PostgreSQL database on Railway's infrastructure.

We don't use any advertising networks, analytics SDKs, or crash-reporting SDKs. We don't sell your data.

4. How your data is protected

• All traffic between the app and our servers is encrypted with HTTPS/TLS.
• Passwords are hashed using PBKDF2 before being stored.
• Authentication tokens can be revoked at any time by signing out.

5. Deleting your data

You can delete your Sensei account and all associated data at any time. Visit /delete-account or, from inside the app, open the sidebar footer and choose "Delete account".

When you delete your account we remove: your user record, all sessions and messages, quiz answers, progress records, preferences, custom tracks and topics you uploaded, and any refresh tokens. This is immediate and irreversible.

If you can't sign in, email erick.vanjoeff.misoles@gmail.com from the address on your account and we'll delete it for you within 7 days.

Note that copies of messages you sent to Claude may be retained by Anthropic under their own retention policy; we have no control over that. We also retain anonymized administrative audit records (dates and actions only) for security accountability.

6. Age requirement

Sensei is intended for users aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

7. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the app evolves. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent change.
